In January 2026, we formally contacted the CQC to explore registration (Reference: CAS-1218456-T5V7D1). The CQC confirmed that earwax removal and ear health services are only regulated when provided by "listed healthcare professionals" - specifically GMC-registered doctors or NMC-registered nurses.

As HCPI-qualified specialist ear care practitioners, CQC registration is neither required nor available to us.

However, we made a deliberate choice: We voluntarily built our practice to full CQC Fundamental Standards anyway, because vulnerable people deserve these protections whether regulation requires them or not.

Not necessarily! Unlike many providers, Clear Ear Cheer can usually remove earwax without requiring pre-treatment drops.

Our approach:

• We assess your wax at the appointment using HD video otoscopy
• Most wax can be removed immediately with our professional equipment
• If drops would help, we'll advise you and reschedule (rare)

However, if you'd like to prepare:

• Use olive oil drops (room temperature) for 3-5 days before appointment
• 2-3 drops in each ear, twice daily
• This can soften very hard or impacted wax
